World of Horror (also known as Kyoufu no Sekai) is a deliberately-retro survival-horror adventure-RPG in development by Panstasz, with a planned digital release by Ysbryd Games for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It was originally released for the PC in Early Access format on February 20, 2020.
Made as a "1-bit love letter" to cosmic-horror fiction writers Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft, World of Horror features an art style and a mouse-based user interface reminiscent of 1980's-era computers (such as the Apple Macintosh) where everything is in either two or four different colors (which are customizable).
In the game, players explore the Japanese town of Shiokawa as one of several students, investigating bizarre mysteries while a ritual behind-the-scenes brings the doom of a cosmic being ever-closer. It incorporates several creatures and tales based on both horror manga and Japanese urban legends, blending them with a cosmic horror atmosphere reminiscent of Cthulhu Mythos.
The game itself is meant to be played repeatedly, similar to some other rogue-lites. Players can choose various options for each playthrough, including the player's character (each with their own unique attributes and abilities) and the approaching "Old God" (each giving several detrimental effects throughout the game). The game is sometimes presented as a collectible card game, where randomized encounters, items, and other features are pulled from the player's current "decks" and players can augment their decks with new cards acquired from certain in-game actions.
